Privacy Policy
Last updated: 14 June 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how WeMove ("WeMove", "we", "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the WeMove mobile application and related services (the "Service"). By using the Service you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information we collect
Account information
- Your email address and, if you sign up with a password, an encrypted credential managed by our authentication provider.
- If you sign in with Apple or Google, a unique identifier and the basic profile details those providers share with us.
- Your display name, chosen leaderboard name, and an optional profile photo.
Health & fitness data
- With your permission, we read activity data from Apple Health (HealthKit) — such as steps, walking/running distance, and related workout metrics — to measure your progress on challenges.
- We use device motion and pedometer sensors to estimate distance, elevation, and movement during workouts.
Health and fitness data is used only to provide app features (progress, leaderboards, history). We never use HealthKit data for advertising or sell it, and we do not share it with third parties except the infrastructure providers needed to operate the Service.
Location data
- With your permission, we collect precise GPS location while you record a workout, including in the background, so we can track your route and distance.
- Location is used to power workout tracking and maps. We do not use it to advertise to you.
Activity & challenge data
- Workouts you record, routes and challenges you take part in, progress, badges, sector times, and team challenge participation.
Purchases & delivery
- If you buy a race kit or a premium subscription, payment is processed by third-party payment providers (such as Apple and our merchant/fulfilment partners). We do not store your full card details.
- If you opt in to kits, we collect a shipping address and t-shirt size so a kit can be delivered to you.
Device, usage & notifications
- Basic device and diagnostic information, and a push-notification token if you enable notifications.
2. How we use your information
- To provide and operate the Service — workouts, challenges, leaderboards, teams, badges, and history.
- To create and secure your account and verify your email.
- To process kit and subscription purchases and arrange delivery.
- To facilitate charity contributions associated with challenges.
- To send you service and challenge notifications (where enabled).
- To maintain security, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations.
3. Legal bases (UK/EU users)
Where applicable, we process your data to perform our contract with you (providing the Service), with your consent (Health data, location, notifications, marketing), to pursue our legitimate interests (security, improving the Service), and to comply with legal obligations. You can withdraw consent at any time in your device settings.
4. How we share information
- Service providers who operate the Service on our behalf — including Google Firebase (authentication, database, storage, messaging), Mapbox (maps), Apple (HealthKit, sign-in, payments), and our payment and kit-fulfilment partners.
- Other users — your leaderboard name, profile photo, and selected badges are visible to other signed-in users on leaderboards and within teams you join. Your email, address, and health data are never shown to other users.
- Charities — where a challenge supports a charity, we may share aggregate contribution information; we do not share your personal data with charities without your consent.
- Legal — where required by law or to protect rights, safety, and the integrity of the Service.
We do not sell your personal information.
5. Storage & security
Data is stored on secure cloud infrastructure (including Google Firebase, hosted in the European Union where configured). We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, though no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
6. Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. You can delete your account at any time, after which we remove or anonymise your personal data except where we must retain it for legal or accounting reasons.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at the email below. You can also manage Health, Location, and Notification permissions in your device settings, and edit your profile details in the app.
8. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under that age.
9. International transfers
Your information may be processed in countries other than where you live. Where we transfer data internationally, we use appropriate safeguards as required by law.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will revise the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
